Saya ingin bercerita tentang legenda Laihamek

I am going to talk about the story of Laihamek.

Menurut cerita di Lole

According to the story in Lole,

Para tetua menceritakan bahwa dahulu kala

The elders told that in the past

Seorang laki-laki bernama Laihamek

(there was) a man named Laihamek.

Orang itu bersama istrinya

The man (was) with his wife

Mereka tinggal di Rote

They lived in Rote

Di Rote waktu itu sudah ada agak banyak orang

At the time in Rote, quite many people already lived there

Laihamek memiliki postur tubuh yang berbeda dengan semua orang di Rote

The man, Laihamek, had a different physique from all people in Rote

Orang ini sangat besar dan sangat tinggi

The man was very big and very tall

Sedangkan orang lain

But (as for)other people

Tubuh mereka kecil seperti kita, manusia sekarang

Their physique was small like us, the people living now

Karena Laihamek mengandalkan kekuatannya

Since Laihamek relied heavily on his own strength

Sehingga di mana saja dia harus makan yang banyak

Wherever he was, he wanted to eat much

Mungkin karena tubuhnya besar sehingga demikian

Karena mengandalkan kekuatannya sehingga di manapun dia tidak menghargai orang lain

Mereka tidak berhasil

They never succeeded

Sehingga mereka tidak tahu bagaimana orang ini

So they did not understand the man

Kekuatannya di mana?

Where does his strength exist?

Orang ini, karena kekuatannya

As the man was so strong

dan badannya besar

and he was so big

Dia berjalanpun dia harus mencari batu

whenever he walked he should find stones

karena, untuk dia menginjakkan kakinya, tidak bisa menginjak di tanah.

Lalu karena ulahnya yang membuat kekacauan

Jadi katanya suatu hari

So it was said that one day

Orang sangat jengkel sehingga mereka bertanya pada istrinya

People were irritated, so they went to ask his wife

Sangat kuat jadi mungkin

(Laihamek) is very strong so perhaps

Orang ini menggunakan tenaga magis atau apa?

Awalnya istrinya tidak mau memberitahu

Mereka menunggu Laihamek tertidur, lalu

Lalu mereka mencabut alang-alang, lalu

Tiba-tiba Laihamek terbangun

Laihamek suddenly was awake

Saat dia bangun, kekuatannya tidak seperti dulu lagi

When he got up, his strength was not the same anymore

Sejak itu, dia sakit hingga mati

From that point on, he fell ill and eventually died,

Karena kekuatannya tidak ada lagi

Because he lost his power

Lalu Laihamek ini

Then Laihamek

Kata orang, di manapun dia menginjak

As people said whenever he stepped on

pasti berlubang

Many holes created

Batu-batu tempat dia menginjakkan kaki, hingga sekarang

Until now the stones where he stepped on

Masih terlihat di Pulau Rote

(the stones) still exist in Rote

Katanya itu adalah bekas kaki Laihamek

and it is said, Laihamek's footstep

Lalu dia memiliki tongkat

And he had a stick

Jadi bekas tongkatnya pun

So also the traces of his stick

Masih terlihat bekas lubang di sana

Dan dia memiliki anjing

And (Laihamek) had dogs

Bekas kaki anjing pun

So the footstep of the dog also

Masih ada pada batu di Pulau Rote

Hampir di setiap wilayah terdapat bekas kaki Laihamek
